For our participation at the 8th edition of PhotoBrusselsFestival we are combining the works of Belgian photographer Lieven Lefere and German photographer Edgar Leciejewski. In both artists' oeuvres, essential aspects of photography such as time, light and composition play an important role without, however, pursuing the goal of capturing an objectively visible reality.

 

Rather, the two artists approach their subject in often lenghty procedures and deconstruct and reconstruct it on a meta-level. In their process, historical references to photography are just as important as more general art-historical or scientific-analytical observations.

In addition to their photographies we are also presenting sculptural works by both artists.
